21 July 2026

We’ve got a strong presence at the 47th International Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE 2026), taking place from 20–22 July 2026 in Santiago, Chile. One of the world’s leading conferences on energy economics, IAEE brings together researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and practitioners to discuss the latest evidence and emerging challenges shaping the global energy transition.

We’re showcasing RESET’s commitment to advancing collaborative, policy-relevant research that supports evidence-based decision-making for clean energy transitions across the Global South. RESET members from Latin America, Africa, and Asia will contribute through a dedicated Special Concurrent Session organized under the Multi-Country Energy Transition (MCET) initiative, as well as presentations across multiple technical sessions covering energy systems modelling, carbon markets, clean energy planning, just transitions, and electricity market design.

RESET’s participation at IAEE 2026 reflects the network’s growing international engagement and its mission to foster collaboration among researchers working on the energy transition.

RESET Special Concurrent Session

  • Session: Clean Energy Pathways for a Global South Just Transition: Evidence from the MCET Network
  • Date & Time: Tuesday, 21 July | 16:00–17:30
  • Location: Salón Fresno, Casa Central, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Presentations

  • Luis Fernandez Intriago (Environmental Defense Fund) – RESET Network: Advancing Collaborative Research for Clean Energy Transitions in the Global South
  • Rodrigo Bórquez (RESET Network) – Clean Energy Pathways for a Global South Just Transition: Synthesis and Macroeconomic Perspective
  • Manuel Portilla (Member / Vinken) – Demand Response as a Flexibility Resource in Electricity System Decarbonization: Evidence from Chile, Colombia, and Vietnam
  • Paola Acevedo (Member / Sustenta Honduras) – SWITCH-Honduras: Integrating Territorial Justice Elements into Long-Term Energy Planning Models
  • Tarun Sharma (Member / Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee) – Modelling Demand-Responsive Pricing for India’s Power Sector: A Scenario-Based Policy Analysis Using the SWITCH Platform

The session will present research developed through the MCET initiative, highlighting how open-source modelling tools and international collaboration can support long-term electricity planning and policy development across diverse Global South contexts.
