MCET Pre-COP30 Seminar Series — Americas Session

A session focused on two critical dimensions for advancing energy transitions in Latin America: demand response as a tool for system efficiency and the integration of territorial justice into long-term energy planning. Presenters explored how SWITCH-based power sector models can support decarbonization and reduce system costs in Chile, Colombia, and Vietnam, and how SWITCH-Honduras integrates social and environmental safeguards to ensure power expansion does not compromise protected areas or Indigenous rights.
